OUR STORY

In 2014, a few families from Vanguard Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado started gathering together in Palmer Lake, Colorado and praying about the idea of planting a community of faith in their own backyard. With the support, generosity, and backing of Vanguard, these families and Pastor Alan Briggs launched “Vanguard Palmer Lake”.

For 9 years, under a few different leadership teams and Pastors, that community of faith kept working together with Vanguard to expand the Kingdom of God in the Tri-Lakes area. Under the leadership of Pastor Richie Fike and a few founding members, it became clear that it was time to no longer operate as a location of Vanguard, but to launch out as a fully-fledged church.

The Movement Church was born in October of 2023. In a season of American life when people who are unaffiliated with Jesus tend to think that God is either against them or indifferent.

The message of The Movement Church is a beacon in that dark night: “God is for you, and so are we.”

We believe that it is the Church’s obligation to earn the right to share the Gospel by loving and serving its community well. So, that’s just exactly what The Movement Church exists to do.

Pastor Richie Fike is a highly-acclaimed, published songwriter, and gifted communicator who has served in the ministry for 25 years, and has served as our church’s Pastor since August of 2021. He, his wife, and two sons have laid down roots here in our community and, to hear them tell it, they “don’t have a plan B”. Their focus is multiply a culture of disciple-makers in the Tri-Lakes area.

God is not a monument…a statue designed to remind us only of what once was. He is a movement…a perpetual, unstoppable, incredible force of good…And, we get to be a part of it.
